Metal roofing

Metal roofing, from consultation to completion

Standing seam and corrugated panels for homes, farms and commercial buildings, with the permits, scheduling and suppliers handled for you.

Exposed fasteners and failed seams: where metal roofs leak

Metal sheds water well, and when a metal roof leaks it is almost always at a joint rather than in the panel. Exposed-fastener roofs, the corrugated or ribbed panels screwed straight through the face, depend on a rubber washer at every screw. Those washers harden in sun and cold, the screws back out a little as the panels expand and contract, and a roof that was watertight for years starts to weep around dozens of small holes.

Seams fail differently. A standing seam panel locks along its rib, so a leak there points to a seam that was not fully closed, a clip that was set badly, or a panel that was not given room to move with the temperature. Penetrations and transitions are the other trouble spots: pipe boots, skylight curbs, valleys, and the line where a metal section meets a shingle slope or a low-slope membrane.

Finding the real cause matters before any repair. Re-sealing a screw head that is not the source buys a month. We trace the leak to the joint, the fastener or the flashing that let water in, then fix that.

Standing seam or corrugated, and the permits, scheduling and suppliers handled

Standing seam has no fasteners through the face of the panel. Clips hold it to the deck beneath and let it move freely, which is why it suits long runs, steep roofs and buildings where you want the cleanest lines. Corrugated and ribbed panels cost less to make and install, and they are a good fit for barns, outbuildings and commercial structures when the fastening pattern and washers are specified well. We walk you through both, with the styles and colours each offers, before you choose.

The paperwork and logistics are ours to carry. From the first consultation we handle permits, line up scheduling and coordinate with the panel supplier, so the metal arrives cut to the job and the crew is there when it does. You are not chasing a roll former or a permit office while your roof is open.

We are certified by Fabral, and architectural sheet metal is part of what we do every week: flashings, trim, ridge, eave and rake details, formed to suit the roof in front of us.

Hail resistance, long life and protection that outlasts the neighbours

Metal is chosen in Minnesota for what it does through a hard winter and a bad hail season. It is hail resistant, and where a heavy stone leaves a cosmetic dent in a panel, the roof underneath keeps shedding water. Snow slides off it, and it keeps its shape through freeze and thaw. Asking your contractor which panel gauge and finish they would pick for your roof, and why, is a fair question.

A metal roof has a long lifespan, and the warranties that come with the panels and the finish are part of the protection. We go over what those warranties cover, and what they expect from you, before the work starts, so nothing about them is a surprise later.

The job ends when the site is clean and the roof is closed out correctly. Our licence is Minnesota Building Contractor License BC320318, and the work is done by a crew that is on your roof in Little Canada, St Paul or Woodbury because they were the ones who quoted it.
